UMD Women’s Hockey Aims to Extend Unbeaten Streak Against St. Thomas
UMD will look to make it five straight games without a loss as well as extend their overall record to 8-0-1 against the Tommies.
DULUTH, Minn.- Like the men’s team, the UMD women’s hockey team will also be honoring Johnson as they begin a two game series with St. Thomas on Friday.
The Bulldogs have caught a bit of a hot streak as they are currently riding a four game unbeaten streak.
UMD will look to make it five as well as extend their overall record to 8-0-1 against the Tommies.
Head Coach Maura Crowell says she doesn’t try to think about past success when game planning for this upcoming series.
“We’re big on reads. What’s the penalty kill doing? How do we read where their sticks are? Same thing here. What is the goalie doing? Is she overplaying the shot? Okay then it’s the pass. So the more that we can read the situation, the better we’re going to continue to get. That’s really what we’re focusing on. I think last year’s results and results in the past, maybe that helps with confidence. But, I’m always the one that says hey we start games 0-0, it’s a new year. We’re a totally new team, so are they,” said Crowell.
Puck drop for game one is set for Friday at 6 PM.
