Denfeld’s Doyle, Seguin Staying in Duluth to Play College Soccer
Doyle signs with UMD, Seguin with CSS
DULUTH, Minn.- A pair of Denfeld girls soccer players have officially signed on the dotted line to play college athletics in Duluth.
Before the start of the fall sports season, Alyssa Doyle had committed to the UMD. The senior ends her high school soccer career as the Hunters’ all-time leader in goals and points. She was also named first-team Class AA All-State and was first-team all-conference over the last three years.
“I really hope that I put a mark on the program with my character and hard work,” says Doyle, who was a Fox 21 Northern Star in September. “I hope that girls that are still in the program continue to strive to be like a leader on the team, no matter how old, (or) how young you are.”
Meanwhile, Camryn Seguin will also play college soccer after a successful four years at Denfeld. The second-team all-conference member has signed to play with St. Scholastica. “It feels really good. I’m glad I get to do it with one of my best friends and all the family and friends here for support is awesome.”
Head Coach Leah Hamm — who attended Monday’s signing — says it’s always special to watch her players sign on to play college athletics.
“The girls worked very hard for this, so they’re just very deserving,” says Hamm, a former Denfeld and CSS soccer player herself. “It’s fun to give them some recognition. They put in lot of work behind the scenes, applying to the school, keeping their grades up, working hard in practice and continuing to kind of stay in shape after the high school season ends. I was really happy a bunch of our girls came out to see them sign today, just as a reminder of like, ‘look, this could be you in the future.'”
The Hunters ended their season at 9-6-3 overall, making the second-straight year they finished with a winning record.
