Local Boutiques Participate in Pink Friday to Support Small First

DULUTH, Minn. — Local shops in the northland took part in Pink Friday on November 17, a spin on the traditional Black Friday shopping experience, reminding people to shop small this holiday season.

Liila Boutique, a women’s clothing and gift store located in the Lincoln Park Craft District, was one of the shops apart of the national trend.

Each year, Pink Friday takes place the Friday before Thanksgiving.

The day encourages people to support small shops, rather than going straight to the big box stores for gifts and more. However, it also looks to build camaraderie between local businesses.

“So, the idea is that building each other up helps everyone do better. That’s a huge part of why we are located in Lincoln Park, the businesses work really well together and the collaboration that we’ve seen is why we have been so successful,” said Liila Boutique Owner Amanda Rolfe.

Other local boutiques who participated in Pink Friday include, Apricot Lane and Art in the Alley in Duluth and Kindred Stone & Co. in Superior.
