Superior Fire Department’s Annual Toys for Tots Campaign Well Underway
Organizers are asking for early donations, especially for teenagers
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Christmas is coming early at the Superior Fire Department, and they are asking for the community’s help.
Their annual Toys for Tots campaign is well underway. With Christmas falling on a Monday this year, the department will spread holiday cheer early, on the weekend of December 16th and 17th. Superior Firefighter John Lundberg said people can help by not waiting until the last minute and keeping teenagers in mind when picking out gifts.
“Teens are really hard to buy for,” Lundberg said. “A lot of people don’t know what teens want. If you’re willing to get a present to donate to a teen, maybe ask somebody that your family knows: What do kids like these days?‘”
Ideas for teens include room decor, headphones, and sports equipment. The department’s Lundberg added in the past the community has had some great out-of-the-box thinking and fabulous generosity.
We’re in a great community here that really wants to support their own, they support us,” Lundberg said. “They’re adamant at supporting their own community and frankly we’re a conduit between that. We’re a way of making that happen, for the community to give back to themselves.”
You might be surprised just how many families Toys for Tots helps. The campaign reaches around 800 kids during the holiday season, all within Douglas County. To donate, you can drop new, unwrapped toys at the following donation box locations:
