Prep Girls Basketball: Rangers, Lumberjacks, Hilltoppers Capture Wins
Duluth Marshall posts 95 points over Two Harbors
DULUTH, Minn.- In a busy Thursday night for girls’ high school basketball in the Northland, three local hoops teams earned early-season wins ahead of the weekend.
After splitting a pair of games during the Thanksgiving weekend, the Mountain Iron-Buhl girls basketball team improved to 2-1 in their 80-72 victory over Proctor. The Rangers started the game with five three-point shots as part of a 15-2 run. The Rails were able to get back on track, but MIB remained in control of the game enroute to their victory.
The Cloquet girls are now 2-0 after their dominant 72-27 win over Hermantown. The Lumberjacks led by 31 points at halftime and didn’t let up after the break. Cloquet will look to stay undefeated Tuesday when they take on Duluth East.
The Duluth Marshall girls opened their season with an offensive explosion in their 95-29 victory against Two Harbors. The Hilltoppers’ 95 points is the most they’ve scored in a single game since February of 2021, when they put up 101 points against Duluth East. Duluth Marshall will have a chance to hit triple digits on Saturday against Albany as part of the Hopkins High School Tip-Off Classic.
