Floating Sauna to Open Saturday in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. — You may have taken a sauna before, but have you experienced one from on top of Lake Superior? Well, you can do just that beginning on Saturday, December 2.

Cedar and Stone Nordic Sauna presents a 10 person floating sauna experience located on the harbor at Pier B. While enjoying the sauna, you’ll see a view of Bentleyville and the Aerial Lift Bridge in the distance.

Founder and CEO of Cedar and Stone Nordic Sauna Justin Juntenen said, the floating sauna has been long in the making. “12 years ago I went to Finland with my wife and we were on a floating sauna and I said, “this could happen in Duluth.” So, this is like a decades long dream coming true.”

If you’re someone who likes to cold plunge, you can dive beneath the depths of Lake Superior and warm up in the floating sauna. You just need your bathing suit and staff will walk you through the process.

“What we’re trying to do with folks is help them go through the process of sauna, the ritual. Hot, cold, rest, rehydrate and repeat,” said Juntenen.

You can book the floating sauna now for private or social sessions here. It opens on Saturday, December 2 at 10:00 am and will then be open five days a week. Two other wood-fired saunas are also onsite and available for booking.
