On Stage Dec. 8-17: ‘A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol’

DULUTH, Minn. — If you like Charles Dickens’ famous “A Christmas Carol,” there’s a Minnesota spoof of the production hitting the stage in Duluth this weekend.

“A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol” takes place Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota.  Dont Touch Me Christmas For Tv

Jason Vincent, of Boat Club Productions, explains the rest!

“So, the bar owner, Gunner Johnson, gets into a snowmobile accident and then is in a coma, and the only way he can get out of the coma and come back to life at the bar is to go through the ghosts of past, present and yet to come,” Vincent explained.

The first performance takes the stage Friday, Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m., at the Spirit of the North Theater on the third floor at Fitger’s on East Superior Street.

If you’ve never been to the theater, Vincent said it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.

“Every single time we run a show here, people say I never knew there was a theater here. Look at this space. It is a beautiful intimate small theater. 144 seats. And that’s why this production works so well in this theatre because you are engrossed in the show, you are feet from the actors and you get that really personal experience that you can’t get at a big theatre,” said Vincent.
