2 Dead After Vehicle T-Boned By Semi On Iron Range

Two people died Monday after the vehicle they were in was hit by a semi on the Iron Range.

Fernando Tibayan, 81, was the driver of the vehicle.  Filipinas Tibayan, 83, was the passenger in the vehicle. Both are from Britt, Minnesota.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday on Northbound Highway 53 at Peppard Road.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the vehicle was attempting to cross Northbound 53 when it was hit by a semi.

The driver of the semi was not seriously injured.

The road condition at the time included snow and ice, according to the State Patrol.
