Cohasset Man Fell Through Ice on Bass Lake
COHASSET, Minn. — A Cohasset Man wants to remind people to check the ice more frequently after he went under on Friday.
Through a phone call, John Anderson described that he was following another driver’s four wheeler’s tracks on Bass Lake, just north of Cohasset. Near the Narrows, the ice underneath Anderson gave out, causing himself, his ice house, and his four wheeler to plunge into icy water.
Thankfully, Anderson was able to crawl out of the ice and then called for emergency services. Emergency services directed Anderson to walk to the nearby Pincherry Grove.
When emergency services reached Anderson, his body temperature was only 90.2 degrees. He was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for hypothermia. He was released Saturday morning.
Over the phone, Anderson told Fox21 that he checked the ice when he initially got on, but wants to remind people that ice is never 100% safe.
