Body Recovered in Lake of the Woods Drowning, Authorities Investigating
BAUDETTE, Minn. — An investigation is under way of an apparent drowning on Lake of the Woods after the body of a man was recovered Thursday afternoon.
The Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s office said it was notified around 8 am Thursday morning of a possible drowning at the Northwest Angle near Flag Island on Lake of the Woods.
Roughly seven hours later the body of a male was recovered by the Cass County Dive Team.
Authorities have not released much more information regarding the circumstances of this incident other than that it is under investigation.
However, an article by the StarTribune has reported that a commercial transport vehicle, known as a bomber, crashed through the ice while carrying multiple passengers on Lake of the Woods Thursday morning.
The tribune reports a male passenger was killed in the crash and that Several passengers and the driver escaped from the “bomber.”
