#24 UMD Men’s Hoops Not Relaxing Ahead of Games with Mary & Minot

In recent history, UMD has had a hold off the all-time series as they lead UMary 13 games to eight and Minot State 12 games to six.

DULUTH, Minn.- With the holidays now in the past, the UMD men’s basketball team is set to make their return to the court this upcoming weekend with two key NSIC battles.

The Bulldogs will welcome in the squads from North Dakota as they’ll take on UMary and Minot State.

In recent history, UMD has had a hold off the all-time series as they lead UMary 13 games to eight and Minot State 12 games to six. That’s dating back to 2013.

But that’s not on the minds of this year’s Bulldog squad as they know anything can happen on any given night.

“These two teams we play are good. You have to play well to win and that’s what we really talked about with this team. Let’s focus on ourselves and if we can play with the kind of intensity that we’re supposed to play with and share the basketball, we’re as good as anybody,” said head coach Justin Wieck.

“Mary and Minot a few years ago, we were on the road with them late in the season. We had the conference regular season if we would’ve went in and won those games but we ended up losing both. That was back when I was a sophomore but I know you can never relax, never take a day off, take a play off,” added senior guard Joshua Brown.

The Bulldogs and Marauders tip things off at 5:30 on Friday.
