One Dead After House Fire In Ashland County

ASHLAND COUNTY, Wis. — A house fire in Ashland County resulted in in the death of one person.

The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office says the call came in around 5:30 p.m. Monday of a fully engulfed structure fire on Salo Road, in the Township of White River.

Authorities say when deputies arrived on scene the homeowner was unaccounted for. When the fire was extinguished, the body of a 70-year-old man was found inside the house.

The Sheriff’s Department says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and it remains under investigation.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the family.
