Hold The Presses! Lincoln Park Gets New Vacation Rentals
Eight suites going into historic press building.
There will soon be some new places for out-of-town visitors to stay in Duluth. Eight of them to be exact.
Or, at least eight suites. There was a good-old-fashioned ribbon-cutting Friday in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It was next to the outdoor seating area of the OMC Smokehouse.
That’s not a coincidence, because the restaurant owners bought the long-standing Duluth Press Building. It has now been converted into a private, vacation rental property. The hope is that it will offer more options for people staying in Duluth, and also be another positive addition to the evolving neighborhood.
“It was a little bit bigger project than we anticipated. I think most remodels go in that direction,” said Louis Hanson, Co-Owner of the Duluth Grill Family of Restaurants.
“And when we started to peel back the layers, we realized that structurally it needed a lot of assistance. That if we’re going to make this where someone is sleeping and enjoying the Lincoln Park Craft District, we wanted to make it safe as possible, quiet as possible, clean as possible,” said Hanson.
Hanson said a big attraction will be that people can stay in the neighborhood, not worry about parking or traffic, take in all the taverns and restaurants, and then walk home at the end of the evening.
The owners expect to be able to start accepting reservations for the Duluth Press Building Residential Suites by late next week.
