Superior Boys Hoops in True Midseason Form

Spartans have won last six games

SUPERIOR, Wis.- With about one month to go in the regular season, the Superior boys’ basketball team have been heating up in the last couple of weeks.

After starting the season at 5-3, the Spartans have won six straight, including key wins against Duluth Marshall, Hudson and Cloquet. Superior’s offense is led by Tresean Sanigar and Calvin Anderson, but they’ve also been getting consistent production from several key role players, like Drew Eisel, Brandon Aker and Kyle Johnson.

“Everyone’s playing a lot more unselfish,” says Sanigar. “They’re making the extra pass when teammates are open and they’re hitting the shots.”

“As a team, we’ve felt a lot closer with each other.” says Aker. “We hang out off the court, on the court, it doesn’t matter. We’re all a really close-knit group of kids and I feel like that plays into the success that we’ve been having this year and just having the experience that we did last year also plays a big part into it.”

This week, the Spartans will have two difficult road tests, starting on Tuesday against Eau Claire Memorial (12-3) before taking on Duluth Denfeld (8-7) on Friday.
