With Nearly Identical Record From A Year Ago, UMD Men’s Hoops Likes Where They Stand
The Bulldogs are currently 4th in the NSIC standings.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s basketball team enters the weekend with a nearly identical record from a year ago.
Of course, last year’s run resulted in an elite eight appearance.
But that’s in the past as the team is focused on the now.
The Bulldogs are gearing up for a gauntlet of a schedule, playing three games in a total of five days. That includes a big matchup on Tuesday against 5th ranked Minnesota State-Mankato.
So far this season, Head Coach Justin Wieck likes where his team stands, which is currently 4th in the conference, but he adds there’s more work to be done.
“Whether it’s NSIC stuff or NCAA stuff, all that stuff is down the road. We have to really stay focused on the next game. Again, we have a chance to hopefully put together a winning streak here with three home games. It’s going to be challenging no doubt. This is where we want to be. You want to be in the hunt when it gets to late January and February. We’re playing good basketball. We have old guys that have been here before. For us it’s about putting it together and try to stack some wins together,” said Wieck.
UMD will play Minnesota Crookston on Friday and Bemidji State on Saturday.
