Prep Hockey: Wolverines Escape Hunters, Greyhounds Speed Past Royals

Duluth Denfeld's fifth-straight loss

DULUTH, Minn.- The Rock Ridge and Duluth East boys’ hockey teams were each able to pick up wins Thursday night at Heritage Arena.

As the road team, Rock Ridge defeated Duluth Denfeld 2-1. After a scoreless first period, both teams picked up goals in the second period, but the Wolverines separated themselves with another goal in the third period. Rock Ridge (15-4-1) will return home on Saturday to face Duluth East. Denfeld (9-9-1) has now lost five straight games and will look to snap that streak on Tuesday against Brainerd.

Duluth East had a much easier path to victory, shutting out Hopkins 7-0. Stratton Maas scored two goals for the Greyhounds while Brody Olson, Noah Teng, Caden Cole, Luke Rose and Luke Anderson each tallied one goal. East (7-11-1) will travel to Rock Ridge on Saturday with the goal of earning their fourth-straight win.
