Superior Ice Festival Underway and will Continue Saturday
SUPERIOR, Wis. — The 9th annual Lake Superior Ice Festival is officially underway and the fun will continue Saturday.
The festival is a winter tradition in Superior and has various activities throughout the two-day event.
From yard games, a snow slide, ice sculptures, and much more.
Friday Superior Mayor Jim Paine kicked off the fun by introducing the city’s new winter mascot.
People also gathered to play a game of Kubb and warm up by the fire.
“We are thrilled to introduce our first-ever Superior winter mascot,” said Superior Mayor Jim Paine. “And to name our polar bear we invited the public to weigh in, suggest the names, and vote on them. So if everybody’s ready, I’m proud to announce and introduce to you for the first time, Blizzy the Polar Bear!”
Saturday’s activities will kick off at 10 a.m. The festival will wrap up Saturday evening with a fireworks show at 6:30 p.m.
