Rock Ridge Girls Hoops Breaking Through After Inaugural Season

17-2 overall, 2-0 against Iron Range opponents

VIRGINIA, Minn.- In only their second season as a team, the Rock Ridge girls basketball team has established themselves as legitimate threats in the Iron Range Conference.

Following Saturday’s win against Princeton, the Wolverines stand at 17-2 with a 2-0 record against conference opponents. Last season, the Wolverines were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs, but these girls now have a better idea of what it will take to make a deeper run.

“It’s going to take just trusting each other, being teammates on the court, not worrying about who’s scoring the most and just making the extra pass while we’re out there.” says Anna Westby, a junior for Rock Ridge.

“I think it’s just keep putting our effort on and off the court, whether it’s in practice or in games, we need to keep pushing ourselves to do better each and every day.” says Alexandra Flannigan, who’s a senior with the Wolverines.

Rock Ridge will next take on International Falls on Friday before hosting Hibbing on Monday, February 5.
