DULUTH, Minn. — Two Duluth residents are displaced after a house fire happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

The Duluth Fire Department says they responded to a structure fire on South 69th Avenue West at 2:44 a.m.

When they arrived, they received a 911 report of people trapped on the first story porch roof. Crews were able to get one person down using a ladder, while the other jumped down to the deck below.

Authorities say three cats were reported missing. One was found dead and the other 2 are still missing.

Total damage was estimated at about $75,000.

No one was injured in the fire.

During the incident crews had to stop a motorist from driving over a hydrant line. The fire department says they cannot stress enough the importance of not driving over those lines as it can put them, their equipment, or people’s property in jeopardy.
