Changes Coming to Weekend Bus Service
DULUTH, Minn. — Last August the Duluth Transit Authority introduced its Better Bus Blueprint program. Since then the DTA has made some adjustments to its routes, especially on weekends. Wednesday it was announced there will be additional weekend service changes beginning Sunday, February 18th.
The General Manager of the DTA Rod Fournier says, overall the new bus plans are working well. Total ridership is ahead of pre-pandemic levels. The Blue and Green routes, which operate every 20 minutes, have been very well received.
However, staffing has been an issue that is leading to some changes being made to weekend service.
Weekend service on routes 103, 106,107, and 113 will be suspended beginning February 18th. In addition, the service hours will be slightly shortened and will operate from 6 AM to 10 PM.
“This is really addressing our driver shortages that we have and we really want to make sure that the drivers that we do have, that we’re doing everything we can do to maintain them,” said Fournier. “Everybody wants their couple days off and everybody’s entitled to their vacation.”
