Minnesota Power Introduces Six Electric Vehicles to Fleet

DULUTH, Minn. — Minnesota Power says it is adding six new electric vehicles to its fleet as part of its commitment to the climate.

Minnesota Power is in the early stages of switching a large portion of its current fleet to electric vehicles.

Five electric Chevrolet Silverado pickups and an electric Volkswagen were shown as part of the fleet Friday.

Minnesota Power is going electric as a part of its “EnergyForward” strategy for a carbon-free future.

“This is another step in really moving that EnergyForward strategy along,” Josh Goutermont, Minnesota Power Director of Grid Operations said.

“We’re going to be taking where we have a lot of vehicles that are using fuel and things like that, and now we are actually going to be electrifying a portion of that grid and putting them to work for us.”

Minnesota Power says it will receive two more electric pickups in the upcoming weeks.

The company says the pickups have a 450-mile range on a full charge and perform well in cold climates.
