Cold Front Celebration Brings the Snow to Bayfront

DULUTH, Minn.– The 7th annual Cold Front brought the snow to Bayfront Festival Park amidst a warm spell this winter.

Duluth Parks and Recreation started the winter event to get people outside during the cold months. Despite the odd weather in the northland, Cold Front continued, with a few changes. A few activities were canceled, but snow was brought into the park to make a play area, a sledding hill and a spot for ski and snowboard demonstrations. Cold Front also had various games and of course– hot chocolate.

“We had to make a couple of adaptions,” Megan Lidd, Duluth Parks and Rec, Recreation Specialist said, “but we were able to gather some snow from fields and parking lots and bring it in for a snow play area. So we don’t have a couple of activities that we would normally have, but for the most part, pretty much every activity is happening, just with some modifications.”

The Cold Front at Bayfront celebration also had an outdoor skating rink for all skill levels to enjoy.
