#22 UMD Men’s Basketball Seeks Redemption Against SW Minnesota State
The Mustangs previously took down the Dogs back on their home floor in December, 85 to 72.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s basketball team has been red hot as of late. Winners of their last six and back in the top 25 for the first time since the beginning of January.
The Bulldogs have a chance at redemption this weekend when they take on Southwest Minnesota State on Friday.
The Mustangs previously took down the Dogs back on their home floor in December, 85 to 72.
Head Coach Justin Wieck says his team hopes to fix things on the defensive side this time around. He also added it helps to have the hometown fans behind them.
“We’re back at home. We get a chance to play with a little bit more emotion and a little bit more intensity on both ends of the floor. I think we’re a better team than we were two months ago. They are too. So it’s going to be a heck of a matchup. Two of the better teams in our league. It’s kind of what you get these days in our conference. Everybody’s pretty good and down the stretch we have some pretty big games coming up. It’s going to be a big one for our guys for sure,” said Wieck.
The Bulldogs and Mustangs tip things off at 7:30 on Friday. The following day, they’ll honor Drew Blair and Jack Middleton on senior night before their contest against Sioux Falls.
