The Glen Avon and Euclid Masonic Lodges Donated 10 New Devices to the County
Fire Suppresion

DULUTH, Minn. — The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office received a new tool today that will help first responders who arrive at fires before firefighters.

First responders will use be able to use to ten new fire suppression tools to quickly reduce the temperature by nearly one thousand degrees and flame activity. Once activated, they can throw the device into a burning room, where it will emit a powdered aerosol.

Tools like these can help decrease fire response times and protect fire responders who do not have fire safety equipment, according to St. Louis County Duluth Division Commander Wade Rasch.

“It’s really phenomenal, the capability of a lay person, of a first responder, to quench a fire long enough to save some lives,” said Rasch. “I think it’s important to note, that the Sheriff’s Office is not trying to take over the roles of firefighters.”

Two Duluth masonic lodges joined together to donate the ten new fire suppression tools. The devices will be distributed to the volunteer rescue squad, emergency response team, and deputies throughout the county.
