One Roof Community Housing Constructing New Affordable Housing
DULUTH, Minn. — One Roof Community Housing is in the process of constructing two new affordable housing buildings for people who have experienced homelessness.
The building, deemed Plover Place, will hold 12 individuals for each apartment. The affordable housing project has been in development since 2020. One Roof says the priority was to construct cost-effective and efficient buildings.
Plover Place was funded by the City of Duluth and St Louis County, and One Roof is partnering with Salvation Army which will be staffing the buildings after completion.
“Our sincerest hope is that this is the first time this happens and that, whether it’s One Roof or other developers of affordable housing that, this can be replicated and maybe can be an answer beyond just Duluth and St. Louis County,” said Jeff Corey, Executive Director of One Roof Community Housing.
Construction for the project looks to be completed around May of this year, and people can move into their new homes shortly after.
