GND REC Receives $25,000 Matching Grant Challenge
GARY NEW DULUTH, Minn. — Gary New Duluth’s Development Alliance, which is the non-profit in charge of the GND Recreation Center received a matching grant challenge from a major contributor. The donor will match contributions dollar for dollar up to $25,000 and that money will not be tied to any project in particular.
The president of the Alliance, Mark Boben, said the matching grant donor told him the contribution is in recognition of the positive impact the GND REC is having on the community and beyond.
“The person said we could use that where we see fit. We are a non-profit. We have to raise every single dollar to keep our youth programming going, to complete our construction, and to do maintenance of the facilities,” said Boben.
Boben said the GND REC is working to make a difference in many ways–with programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. He says everyone has benefited. The money from the grant challenge will help with all aspects of the continuing operations.
