Superior Boys Advance in Rout Over Ashland

Facing Eau Claire Memorial in second round

SUPERIOR, Wis.- The Superior boys hockey team passed their first postseason test with flying colors as they defeated Ashland 7-1 at Wessman Arena Tuesday night.

The first period began in disaster for the Spartans as the Oredockers scored 24 seconds into the game. However, Superior stayed composed and scored two goals before the end of the first period.

Superior will have a much tougher test in the section quarterfinals when they face Eau Claire Memorial, who defeated Barron 9-0 in their first-round matchup. Though the Spartans and Old Abes didn’t face each other in the 2023-24 regular season, Superior defeated Memorial 2-1 to open the 2022-23 season.
