#8 UMD Women’s Hockey to Meet SCSU in WCHA Playoff Preview

The Bulldogs will try to regain the season series as they split with SCSU in December.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD women’s hockey team has something to play for this weekend. With a regulation win over St. Cloud State, the team then clinches home ice in the first round of the WCHA tournament.

This won’t be the first time the two teams have seen each other this season. And it also won’t be the last.

No matter the results the rest of the year, the Huskies and the Bulldogs will meet in the first round of the playoffs.

Head Coach Maura Crowell says they’re taking things one game at a time and their focus is on this weekend’s series.

“They’re structured defensively and they make it hard to play against. There’s just not a lot of space out there. What I like about us though is we’re also very structured. I think we bring a tough brand of hockey, just like they do. And we do have kids that can put the puck in the net and we have great goaltending too. So I think it will be a great matchup,” said Crowell.

The Bulldogs will try to regain the season series as they split with SCSU in December. Puck drop for game one is at 3 PM on Friday.
