Fresh Off Bye Week, UMD Men’s Hockey Set to Host #5 Denver
In recent years, it's been all Denver as they hold a 4-1 record in their last five meetings.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team is fresh off their bye week and getting set to play the 5th ranked team in the country, Denver.
This will mark the first time this season that the Bulldogs and Pioneers have battled against one another.
In recent years, it’s been all Denver as they hold a 4-1 record in their last five meetings.
Head Coach Scott Sandelin says when game planning it’s important they don’t turnover the puck against Denver otherwise it will be costly.
“Whether it’s coming out of our zone. Whether it’s entering their zone. Whether it’s in the offensive zone or we’re trying to force a play that starts their transition. They’re a team that will frustrate you. They’re a team that will frustrate you because they’ll get on top of you. Their stick detail like I said is great. Then you start getting frustrated. Now you start forcing plays instead of just playing with a calmness and understanding this is how the game’s gonna be,” said Sandelin.
A later start Friday as game one is set for 8:07 PM.
