Local Non-Profit In Need Of Items To Support AmeriCorps Volunteers

Donation Drive

DULUTH, Minn. — Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps is hosting its first ever Gear Donation Drive.

The non-profit is an organization that focuses on historic preservation trades training. The gear drive will support the AmeriCorps training program which teaches young adults skills such as cemetery restoration, log building, maintenance, and roofing. Crews are then able to practice those skills at actual historic sites around the state.

The gear drive will help provide items needed to fill housing units the organization will provide for volunteers. Items needed are camping equipment, apartment furniture, hand and power tools.

“Ameri-Corps personally you can grow a lot, you learn a lot. It’s a good short-term low commitment way to try out different careers while you’re also serving your communities, earning a living stipend, and an education award that you can use for qualified loans or future tuition,” said Beatrice Dornfeld, Program Manager at Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps.

Northern Bedrock’s gear donation drive starts Friday through the 15th. There is a drop box at the back of their building in Morgan Park to bring donations.
