Competitive Eater Takes on Duluth Burger Challenge

DULUTH, Minn.– The record holder for worldwide food challenge wins visited Big Daddy’s Burgers in Duluth Monday to take on a burger challenge.

Randy Santel has won over 1,200 food challenges in his career, including the one on Monday after he finished an eleven-patty burger with 22 slices of bacon, and 2lbs of fries on the side. While he didn’t get the world record, Santel finished the burger in just under 53 minutes, beating his goal of one hour.

“Hey everybody, this is Randy Santel and this is the first time in a very long time that I am not excited at all, I am only here because of so many people requesting that I try this challenge,” said Santel. “There is five and a half pounds of just beef, each layer has two slices of cheese and two slices of bacon.”

Santel has done what no other customer at Big Daddy Burgers has done, and he even gave an incentive of $500 to the next person to take on the challenge at the burger joint.

Santel was also in Tower, Minnesota recently taking on a pizza challenge at the Vermillion Club. The competitive eater will also be in Superior on Tuesday to attempt to eat the Enger Tower Burger at Gronks Bar & Grill.
