Top-Seeded Solon Springs Prepared for Sectionals

Facing Eau Claire Emmanuel Lutheran in Sectional Semifinals

SOLON SPRINGS, Wis.- With only two games standing between them and the WIAA State Tournament, the Solon Springs boys basketball team is ready for the challenge that awaits them in sectionals.

On Saturday, Solon Springs claimed their second-straight Regional Championship as they defeated Luck 84-40. As the top seed in the Division 5 bracket, the Eagles only suffered two losses in the regular season.

Head Coach Marcus Besonen says much of their success comes from his players’ unselfishness, as well as their experience playing together on the biggest of stages.

“”Our guys just move the ball really well; they look for each other,” says Besonen.  “They always are trying to make the extra pass, trying to get the best shot that we can. And that experience just really helps us to prepare for this year.”

Solon Springs will face Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday at Chetek. If they win, the Eagles will play in the Sectional Final in Ashland on Saturday.
