UMD Men’s Hockey to Close Out Regular Season Against #17 St. Cloud State

UMD would drop two contests to St. Cloud State in November with each game coming down to a goal.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team will look to end the regular season on a high note as they welcome in 17th ranked St. Cloud State into AMSOIL Arena on Friday.

SCSU and UMD have met plenty of times over the past four years and they could see each other again next weekend.

The Huskies are currently 3rd in the NCHC standings and could get up to number two depending on what Denver does this weekend.

UMD is locked in at number seven no matter the results on Friday and Saturday.

Head Coach Scott Sandelin has been stressing the little details to his team leading up to Friday’s game.

“Guys should know in this league every Saturday whoever you’re playing win or lose, it’s going to be a harder game. And we’ve got a team that probably doesn’t feel good about their last weekend. They’re trying to finish in second. So, I want to try and spoil that,” said Sandelin.

“We have to be very good both on our power play and penalty kill because five on five it’s a prett even game. Especially being able to play here on a smaller sheet of ice, it really levels the playing surface,” added senior defenseman Darian Gotz.
