UW-Superior Campus Receives Recognition for Efforts in Student Voting

SUPERIOR, Wis. — The UW-Superior campus is receiving recognition for its effort in student voter participation.

The campus is the only one in the region and one of 93 in the U.S. to be given the 2024 Highly Established Action Plan Seal. The nonprofit organization called ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge provided this award.

To get the award their nonpartisan voter and civic engagement program Jackets Vote submitted an action plan of their goals and strategies for the upcoming election season.

That included events, programs, collaborations, and an effort to get all students the same access to voter information.

“It further showcases UW-Superior, our small but mighty campus, that strong commitment to voter and civic engagement. We want our students to vote however they choose to vote. And I want to get them that information, that education so they know where to go to vote when it comes to those elections the one in Wisconsin coming up or the one next fall across the country,” said Katelyn Baumann, Outreach Program Manager at UWS.

The campus scored 35 out of 36 points for their action plan. This is the first time UWS has earned this sort of recognition.
