SWL&P Requests Increases to Electric, Natural Gas and Water Rates
SUPERIOR, WI. — Superior could see a price hike in electric, natural gas and water rates by January of next year.
Superior Water, Light and Power filed a proposal on Friday, March 29 to adjust the rates with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
They requested an overall increase of 5.9% or about $7.3 million. This would result in a 2.2% increase in electric rates, 17.1% increase in natural gas and an 18% increase in the price of water.
A press release sites the need for infrastructure investments, environmental remediation and the increased cost of operations due to inflation as the reasons behind the proposal.
The PSCW will now review the application and public hearings will take place before decisions are made. Any rate changes would take effect in January 2025.
