Egg-splosion of Fun at the Lake Superior Zoo ‘EGG-stravaganza’

DULUTH, Minn. — It was a hopping good time at the Lake Superior Zoo Saturday as it hosted its annual ‘EGG-stravaganza!’

Every year the zoo celebrates Easter and the welcoming of Spring, even though it may not look like it.

Because of the recent snowfall, the zoo had to adapt and move the egg hunt indoors. Kids could also meet the Easter Bunny who was ‘egg-cited’ to meet everyone.

Zoo staff said even the animals get to enjoy the Easter celebration.

“Not only do they get special enrichment, our bars got a giant bunny that was filled with some different food and treats, and carrots of course,” said Haley Hedstrom, Lake Superior Zoo Chief Executive Officer.  But they do like to see people, during COVID, you know, they missed people. Especially our parrots we noticed a change in behavior, so when events are happening they seem to be up, active and a little more happy.”

While many animals enjoyed the Easter fun, some took to basking in the sun instead.
