Library Giving Day Celebration in Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — The library is a great resource for people, but they need your donations to make it even better and more responsive to the various groups using the library.
The Duluth Library Foundation is nearly finished with its fundraising campaign, which this year has a goal of raising $60,000. Thursday night the Foundation is inviting everyone to the Depot for a free, family-friendly event to celebrate the sixth Annual Library Giving Day.
Between 5:00 and 8:00 Thursday there will be story times, Book Bingo, prizes from local businesses, music, free activities, and books for children. In addition, there will be a cash bar and food available for purchase.
“A lot of people don’t realize that all programs and events are privately funded at the library. So, whether that’s a donation to the foundation, the Friend of the Public Library, or other community supporters that support things like story time or book clubs we rely on private donations for that,” said Erin Kreeger, Executive Director of the Duluth Library Foundation.
With this celebration taking place at the Depot, those attending will be able to go cross the street to the library to check out books, sign up for a library card, or just take a few minutes to wander and re-acquaint themselves with all the things that make the library so special.
