Knowing Your Neighbor: The Rainbow Room
DULUTH, Minn.– The Rainbow Room is a vintage clothing and home goods store that made the move from its former location into a bigger space on West 1st Street.
“Our social media presence has grown with the move and also people walking by on the street have been popping in which has been really lovely. This new space downtown is really fantastic, we have the wide window views,” said Owner Isabella Taylor.
You can find a wide selection of clothing items at the shop, from decades-old dresses, vintage shoes and even some newer colorful items.
“Anything fun and funky you can find in The Rainbow Room,” said Taylor.
While the Rainbow Room is filled with items vintage enthusiasts may find fascinating, everyone is welcome. The owner Isabella Taylor says the shop is dedicated to celebrating self-expression, by avoiding gendered sections and categorizing everything by size instead of gender.
“One of our main missions is to make the shop as inclusive as possible for people of all genders, people of all sizes, so we have a really wide size and price range,” said Taylor.
Isabella hunts for the perfect garments and accessories, which are available at a broad price range.
“A lot of the inventory here is my own inventory. So, I source from private buys, I’ll buy wholesale and I source from around the state, sometimes I go out of the state to look for new pieces,” said Taylor.
You never know what you might find at the Rainbow Room, new goods and apparel are introduced frequently. And the shop has dressing rooms to try on clothes before you leave.
“We put out new inventory pretty much every day, so there’s always something new at The Rainbow Room, if you come back a day later, you’ll find something new,” said Taylor.
While the new location is just recently up and running, Isabella hopes to use the space for community events to support inclusivity in Duluth.
The doors of The Rainbow Room are open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
