St. Scholastica’s Lindemann, Oberding Ready for Final Meet
Saints Competing in Northfield April 27-28
DULUTH, Minn.- With the St. Scholastica women’s golf team entering its final week, two of their top all-time student-athletes are eager to hit the links in their season finale.
Senior Anna Lindemann and Junior Carissa Oberding have been standouts all season for the Saints, with Lindemann placing in the top 15 (+10) in this weekend’s “BU Rumble at the Ridge” and Oberding cracking the top 30 (+15).
“Anna’s the best,” says Oberding. “She’s the personal hype-woman. She’s the first one to congratulate you after the round, she’s always cheering you on. If you have a bad round, she’s there to pick you up. She’s a great golfer, too. She’s having a phenomenal season and it’s just been great watching her.”
Interestingly enough, Lindemann shared similar feelings when discussing Oberding’s impact on the team. “Carissa just brings such an enthusiasm (and) joy.” she smiled. “She is our team hype-woman, she brings so much energy, love, and she motivates me. She motivates others to play good golf, to be better, but also, she just brings a lightheartedness that we need.”
This upcoming weekend’s meet at Northfield will be Lindemann’s final as a collegiate golfer. “I guess I would say my biggest expectations is to have fun, enjoy those moments with the team, obviously play some good golf.”
Oberding — who is set to return to St. Scholastica in the fall semester — hopes this final meet can be a culmination of her team’s hard work in the last several months. “Everyone’s working on something different, so kind of putting that to the test and out on the golf course and just making sure you’re having down the mechanics.”
The Saints’ final meet of the spring season is hosted by St. Olaf College and will take place at Willingers Golf Club on April 27 and 28.
