Esports Comes to Boys & Girls Club of Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. –The growth of Esports is continuing in both high schools and colleges as well as with younger audiences. The acceptance and growth of gaming are evidenced by the new Esports lounge at the Boys and Girls Club in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Wednesday afternoon saw the grand opening of the Esports Lounge at the club. For the past four or five months work on the 60 thousand dollar Esports project has been underway.
The president of the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club was appreciative of the Leadership Duluth Chamber that made this project their own.
Todd Johnson, from the Boys and Girls Club said, “We had a group from Leadership Duluth that saw this as their project and they helped from the design standpoint, they did all the painting, they put all the furniture together, all of the networking, and the setup, so they’ve been wonderful. “They really did a good job in getting us across the finish line.:
The lounge has nine different spots where kids can play a variety of games. Soonthe kids will be able to compete with other Esports teams around the state and beyond.
But for the grand opening, the club members were much more interested in just playing some of their favorite games on the new equipment in the Exports lounge.
