WLSSD Hosts Annual Earth Week Block Party
DULUTH, Minn.– The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District held its annual Courtland Street Block Party Friday, in honor of Earth Week.
The WLSSD block party is dedicated to protecting the environment and public health within the community.
People dropped off waste and plastics. And a station was set up for the proper disposal of unwanted medications.
Atlas Games also had a tent set up , displaying various products made from recycled plastic.
“The lake is a great resource and reminds us everyday that we want to take care of our environment, we want to take take of the community,” Ryan Ihrke, Environmental Program Coordinator at WLSSD. “And it’s really great, Earth Day should be everyday and today really highlights, or this week highlights what we can do to work together as a community to make this a safe place for our environment and public health.”
If you missed today’s drop off and have unwanted medicine, many local pharmacies offer medicine collection.
