Local Organizations Show Appreciation During Volunteer Week

DULUTH, Minn. — Local organizations are showing their appreciation to volunteers this week.

Head of the Lakes United Way teamed up with Twin Ports non-profit partners to offer deals and discounts during the week. A Volunteer Appreciation Passport was given as a way to see all the different options. Some deals included a free-self guided tour at Glensheen, a free coffee and roll at Johnson’s Bakery, and buy one entree, get one free at O-M-C Smokehouse.

Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert hosted a press conference today with a National Volunteer Week Proclamation at Corktown Deli.

“It’s really great to come together and offer this to all sorts of different volunteer organizations because a lot of people don’t have a budget to even have a full-time volunteer coordinator, let alone maybe throw an appreciation event for volunteers. So, if we can do that collectively it saves time, saves money and brings together you know a greater amount of benefits and ways to celebrate volunteers,” said Zoey Leege, Community Engagement Coordinator at Head of the Lakes United Way.
