$3 Million Secured In Senate Bonding Bill For New 148th Fighter Wing Hangar

Sen. Grant Hauschild (DFL-Dist. 3) has announced $3 million for the 148th Fighter Wing has been secured in the Senate Capital Investment Bonding Bill.

If a super majority approves the funding, it would assist in the construction of a new hangar for the Fighter Wing.

The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce has been the lead advocate for the new hangar funding because the military cannot formally advocate for it themselves, according to Hauschild.

“We are proud to have the men and women of the 148th Fighter Wing right here in the Northland because we know how important they are to our state and national security,” Hauschild said in a written statement Sunday evening.  “Ensuring the long-term viability of the 148th Air National Guard Base is a top priority for me, which is why I have fought to include funding for their much-needed hangar upgrades since entering the State Senate. I’m proud to say that we have secured the first round of funding in this year’s bonding bill, now we must push for a strong bipartisan vote to deliver it.”
