Northern Star: Carter Boos

Will play for Northern Iowa Area Community College in 2025

DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth Marshall baseball is getting the most they’ve ever gotten from Carter Boos, who’s in his sixth year playing for the high school team.

“I think just the vibes in the dugout have been ‘We’re one unit,’ and we(‘ve) got to go win games together.” Boos has developed into a dependable hitter, a dangerous pitcher, and a consistently smooth shortstop. However, he claims that this year just feels different.

“I mean, I haven’t felt any pressure this year, which has kind of changed from last year. I would say I was trying to do too much myself.” Boos admits. “But this year, just having a bunch of guys one through nine that are just ‘in it to win it’, it makes it a lot easier on me.”

However, their determination to win doesn’t take away from their playful energy. “They’re just a bunch of goofballs that love having fun together,” Boos smiles. ” It’s not always serious. It’s just a fun vibe. Just having fun with each other, just like we’re friends.”

Fellow senior Tanner Carlson says he’s seen another side of Boos as they both play out their final high school season together. “He’s taken a huge step as a leader this year, and it’s been so much fun to watch him grow.” Gleamed Carlson. “It’s all just very enjoyable from my perspective.”

In 2025, Carter will play for North Iowa Area Community College, but as has been the case over the last six years, he’s betting on himself to go even further.

“At the end of the day, I want to play at the highest level I can.” Boos said. “I fully believe I’m a D-I player. I didn’t have any D-I offers, but going that JUCO route, I want to develop there and see where that can take me.”

Duluth Marshall (5-2) is scheduled to play on Thursday against Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin before traveling to Minneapolis on Saturday to face Minnehaha Academy.
