Rails End Home Stretch, Roll Past Jacks
First Proctor win over Cloquet since 2022
PROCTOR, Minn.- After losing twice to Cloquet last season, the Proctor baseball team had their revenge on Thursday, taking down the Lumberjacks 7-5 on Thursday.
Proctor was the first to score when Tyler Berglund hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. Cloquet would later take the lead 5-3 after scoring four runs in the top of the fifth, but the Rails quickly responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the fifth.
Thursday’s game was the fourth of a four-game home stretch for Proctor, which began on Tuesday, April 23. In those four games, the Rails went 3-1 while outscoring their opponents 11-6. This also marks the first time this season Proctor has won after giving up four or more runs.
Proctor (6-3) returns to the road on Friday to face International Falls. Meanwhile, Cloquet (4-7) will travel to Moose Lake/Willow River to face the Rebels on Saturday.
