UW-Superior Introduces Bre Simon as New Head Women’s Hockey Coach

Simon replaces Dan Laughlin, who retired after 21 years as head coach and 23 with the program.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- A new era of UW-Superior women’s hockey began on Tuesday as the school introduced Bre Simon as the 6th head coach in program history.

Simon comes to Superior after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Elmira College.

She also has experience at the high school level, coaching at Gentry Academy for two seasons.

Simon says she’s always been impressed with UW-Superior’s style of play that included back in her college days when she was at Hamline University.

“What stuck out to me was their competitiveness and their drive to never give up. I remember my senior year we played against Superior and we were winning going into the 3rd period, I think we were winning two to zero. And they ended up coming back and tying our game. We ended up going into overtime and it was just kind of like they have the tools here and they want to win and I want to help them win,” said Simon.
