Stowe Elementary Students Celebrate Reading Goals With Ice Cream
DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth elementary students are celebrating books the best way they know how, with ice cream.
The Gary New Duluth Recreation Center hosting students from Stowe Elementary Thursday. The book worms gathered to commemorate all the reading they have done since their I Love to Read event in February. Not only did the kids enjoy ice cream sundaes but they also got incentives from the Duluth Library and Barnes & Noble.
“If they read a certain amount of books, they bring their paper back either to the library or to Barnes and Noble and they get to pick a brand-new book,” said Fran Morris, board member of the GND Development Alliance.
The hope of the event is to encourage kids to keep reading over the summer.
