Changes Coming To The Clyde Iron Works Complex
DULUTH, Minn. — Alessandro Giuliani is proud of what his team has accomplished with the Clyde Iron Works Restaurant and meeting space. But now the owner and developer of the entire Clyde Park area says it’s time to make changes to ensure that Clyde remains relevant.
“You can’t stay. You can’t stay in the past, there’s very few restaurants, centers that can live on history,” said Giuliani.
Thus far he’s been able to create and deliver on his vision.
“We are such a unique venue. You can see that we’ve done everything from we bought our own coffee roaster. So, we roast our own coffee. We brought our own beer. We make our own pastas. We do, we’re kind of self-sustaining here at Clyde. We’re a whole different breed here,” said Giuliani.
Going forward, Giuliani says his vision for Clyde Park is to continue offering different and better services and products.
One major change that will be immediately noticeable is when the Clyde restaurant reopens after remodeling. Beginning next week, the restaurant will be open just four days a week, Thursday through Sunday. It’s a decision Giuliani made both to control costs and to ensure guests receive the very best service.
“I found out you know, 90% of our customers are here Thursday to Sunday. The other days are very tough to operate. So, you know, that certainly helped that decision also,” explained Giuliani. “You see our industry, how the customers have changed. They’re not going out as much. They’re going to certain types of restaurants.”
The building will still be busy for the other three days for corporate or private events.
And yet another major addition Giuliani has added is a nine-room boutique hotel on the property. Each of the rooms features a sauna and an oversized shower. The wood flooring comes from timbers saved when some buildings were torn down. Throughout the remaining buildings, hundreds of thousands of bricks have also been reused.
And Giuliani’s not done yet– with another much larger hotel also in the works for a portion of the parking lot.
“I’m still surprised how many people don’t know that we’re out here. I don’t get it,” said Giuliani.
But Giuliani hopes his continuing vision, planning and evolving will work to change that.
