Proctor Softball Seeks Redemption in Quarterfinal Matchup Against St. Agnes

The Aggies defeated the Rails 2-1 in last year's quarterfinals.

PROCTOR, Minn.- The Proctor softball team has come close to securing the top prize in recent trips to state, that includes a state championship game appearance in 2022.

Ultimately now, they’re hoping the 3rd time is the charm as they get set to face St. Agnes in the Class AA quarterfinals on Wednesday.

A team Proctor is very familiar with as they last met in the same game a year ago. That contest would go to the Aggies, 2 to 1.

This time around a pair of Proctor senior leaders say they know what to expect out of their opponent.

“Last year they did some trick plays, so we’ll definitely be aware of those. And last year we didn’t fall for them, so that was good. But, we’ll be watching out for those and they’re also aggressive on the bases, I do remember that,” said senior first baseman Samantha Shelton.

“We just have to be aggressive on the bats. Last year, we had a hit every inning and they only had one, and still beat us. So I think we just have to start off strong, keep good attitudes and never give up,” added senior right fielder Lilly Hart.

First pitch between the Aggies and the Rails is set for 3 PM on Wednesday in Mankato.
