Cubs Fan Drives to Chicago to Enjoy Games from Wrigleyville

Fan makes the 18 hour round trip to experience World Series win with fellow Cubs fans.

Julian Williams said that he just had to make the nine hour drive down to Chicago and the nine hour drive back for this one of a kind World Series.

Just like the win, Williams will cherish the experience forever.

Williams works for Pro Image in the Miller Hill Mall and gets to stock gear related to his favorite team.

“It was always bleed Cubbie blue till you die,” said Williams.

He grew up in Chicago in a family full of White Sox fans until he went to his first Cubs game with Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

“Had we not gone to that game, I probably would’ve grown up a White Sox fan,” said Williams.

He couldn’t quite catch World Series tickets, but did the next best thing and drove down to Chicago for Games 4 and 5.

“It never occurred to me we weren’t going to go,” said Williams.

He came back to Duluth and then drove back down to Chicago to enjoy Game 7 at a Wrigleyville bar.

“For a true Cubs fan that was the place you had to be,” said Williams.

The excitement of every pitch powered Williams through the eighteen hour round trip.

“Emotionally drained is the right word,” said Williams.

In baseball, one always wants to go home and so Williams stepped up to the plate and did just that.

“I have to be around Cubs fans. Either if we win or lose I have to be around Cubs fans people who understand what this means,” said Williams.

Willams and fellow Cubs fans can wave goodbye to any curse and fly the W because this year means more than any of the last 108.

“I got married this last year, had my first child earlier this year and this puts the cap on one of the greatest years of my life,” said Williams.
